Auto and New Energy Vehicle Industry

Automobile and new energy automobile industry is the traditional competitive industry and mainly developed pillar industry of Nanchang. At present, there are over 200 manufacturing enterprises in the city, including 9 enterprises equipped with the qualification for complete vehicles manufacturing (eight enterprises subordinated to JMC and Jiangxi Kaima Bonluck Passenger Car Co., Ltd.). The city has formed the capacity of annual output of 800 thousand vehicles, products covering many fields like passenger cars, light trucks, sports cars, saloon cars and special-purpose cars, appearing the industrial layout taking Xiaolan Economic Development Zone as core clustering area, expanding to Xinjian District, Economic and Technological Development Zone and Qingyunpu District; having formed relatively complete industrial system taking Jiangling Group and Kaima Bonluck as leader and Getrag, Yuancheng Auto Parts, and other key enterprises as supporting. Meanwhile, Nanchang City closely captures the good opportunity of the country promoting new energy automobiles, by means of accelerating the R&D of new energy automobile products, gradually expanding enterprise capacity, strengthening safety quality management, actively boosting the rapid development of new energy vehicle industry. The product categories of auto manufacturers in the city cover pure-electric and hybrid-power large and medium buses, pure-electric saloon cars, cargo vans, sanitation vehicles and engineering vans, etc.

Electronic Information Industry

Electronic information industry grows fastest in our city. In recent years, electronic information industry in Nanchang takes building “Nanchang Optical Valley” as target, with annual average growth rate of about 40%, realizing main business income of 113.845 billion yuan in 2018, becoming the third hundred-billion industry in our city. Currently, there are 130 enterprises above designated scale engaging in electronic information industry, including 3 ones exceeding ten-billion (O-Film Biological Recognition, O-Film Photoelectricity and HiPAD Intelligent). LED industry takes the lead globally, and has the technology of “silicon substrate high photosynthetic efficiency GaN substrate Blue LED” with proprietary intellectual property rights, breaking through technological monopoly of the USA and Japan, obtaining the first prize in national technological invention, and Nanchang City has become one of the few cities equipped with the most complete LED industrial chain, such as epitaxial furnace manufacturing, MO source, epitaxial wafer, chip manufacturing, chip packaging, display screen and lighting application products. The mobile intelligent terminal industry appears explosive growth, having formed a complete industrial chain of mobile communication terminal for liquid lens, camera module, touch screen, mainboard patch, receiver, earphone, chip packaging and complete machine production, able to realize more than 90% regional supporting for spare parts of mobile phones, in which the touch screen, camera module and biometric identification module of O-Film Technology rank the first place in the world for shipment quantity. Domestic mobile phone enterprises with ODM ranking in the forefront are settled in our city, such as Hixih, Wingtech, WIND, Longcheer and TINNO, and there are 13 manufacturers for complete mobile phones, expected to achieve output capacity of 200 million phones by 2020, and it will become one of the important mobile intelligent terminal industry bases.

At present, Nanchang takes VR as the focus to lead the industrial transformation and upgrading and the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. It focuses on the construction of VR innovation center, VR experience center, VR exhibition center, VR cloud center, VR capital platform, VR education platform, VR standard platform and VR trading platform to support the industrial cluster development. It is worth mentioning that the first world VR industry conference was successfully held in Nanchang in 2018, attracting 5,000 experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from all over the world. President Xi Jinping personally sent a congratulatory letter to the conference.

Biomedical Industry

Biomedical industry is an important component and key stage for the “4+4+X” industrial system of our city. There are over 300 medical manufacturers in the city with 80 thousand people working the those enterprises, having formed the industrial agglomeration development pattern of “one core driving three areas”. One core means China (Nanchang) TCM Scientific Innovation City Jiangzhong Pharmaceutical Valley Core Area; three areas indicate the high-tech development zone dominated by development of medical headquarters base and marketing center, Xiaolan Development Zone dominated by medicine production and manufacture and Jinxian County medical device industry agglomeration area dmoniated by medical device production and manufacture. It is remarkable in innovation advantages, possessing two national engineering research centers, two state-level key laboratories, eight provincial-level enterprise technology centers and five provincial-level engineering technology research centers. The production of city-wide medical device accounts for 80% of the aggregate of the province; the scale of disposable medical device manufacture is the largest in China.

Aviation Equipment Industry

Nanchang is the birthplace of the first aircraft in new China, is one of the important aviation industry R&D and production bases in China, gathering over 20 aviation enterprises like Hongdu Group, Hongdu Commercial Aircraft, Guanyi General-purpose Plane, Huaxia Jiuzhou, Zhongfa Tianxin, etc. It has Hongdu aircraft design institute (650 institute), Nanchang Hangkong University, Jiangxi Aviation Vocational and Technical College, Jiangxi Aeronautical Institute, and other research institutes and experimental bases as well as state-level enterprise technology centers, provincial and ministerial level key laboratories and postdoctoral workstation, having strong scientific research, development and innovation ability. In 2018, the national first civil aviation airworthiness certification center jointly built by the province and bureau—Jiangxi Airworthiness Certification Center was settled in Nanchang; Beihang-Jiangxi Research Institute jointly built by Beihang University and Provincial Government was established in Nanchang; taking Nanchang aviation city as the core, Nanchang national aviation high-tech industrial base and national first batch of navigation industry comprehensive model zone were successfully approved by National Development and Reform Commission. The construction of aviation city is accelerated, Yaohu Airport was officially put into use, and our city has built relatively complete aviation industry system from R&D, design, manufacture, test flight to airworthiness certification, vigorously boosting the rapid, coordinated and sustainable development of city-wide aviation industry.
