The added value of service industry accounts for 49.3% of the citywide GDP, 1.2% higher than the provincial-wide average. The investment in fixed assets of service industry increased 10.8%, accounting for 67.4% of all the investment; the service industry realized tax revenue of 47.506 billion yuan, accounting for 62.7% of all the tax revenue. Up to 2020, Nanchang City has 925 enterprises engaging in service industry above designated scale, achieving operating income of 92.833 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 3.8%.

Commerce and Trade Consumption

In 2020, the total retail sales of social consumer goods of Nanchang City achieved 245.274 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 3%, and the total sales ranked in the 15th place among national 26 provincial capital cities.

E-commerce

Nanchang City realized online retail sales of 45 billion yuan in 2020, with a year-on-year growth of 11.98%. The constant emergence of new business types of e-commerce, the prosperous development of WeChat shopping mall and WeChat store, and the live video streaming by web celebrity have vigorously boosted the development of e-commerce development. At present, Nanchang has one state-level e-commerce demonstration enterprise, 8 provincial-level e-commerce demonstration base, 30 demonstration enterprises, 8 city-level e-commerce demonstration bases, and 40 demonstration enterprises.

Service Outsourcing

As a national model city for service outsourcing, Nanchang has cultivated and formed characteristic outsourcing fields in recent years, such as engineering technology service, call center service, inspection and testing service, and virtual reality service. The citywide service outsourcing industry appears “digital, intelligent, high-end and converged” development tendency. The city has 13 provincial-level service outsourcing model parks, like Yonyou (Nanchang) Industrial Park, Zhejiang University (Jiangxi) Science Park, and etc., and 8 city-level service outsourcing demonstration parks like Nanchang ZTE Science Park, Tellhow 590 Creative Industry Park, and etc. Nanchang City has cultivated the software R&D service enterprises represented by Thinvent Digital, and ZTE Software, the service enterprises of IT solutions represented by Tellhow and Booway New Technology, the service enterprises of represented by China Coal International and China Nerin, and the service enterprises of call center represented by Taiying Technology and Chuanyang Finance.
